On April 13, the regime of California published a halt and forbear letter to RydenGo, went on to say that the company had to take down its internet site. Theletter stated that the ride-hailing startup was operating without work permits from the California Public Practicality Commission( CPUC ).
The problem with the prescribe, according to RydenGo CEO Michael Pappas, is that the company is not yet operating. It does have a website, which is still up, and people who would like to drive for RydenGo in the near future are encouraged to sign up for the beta crew. But there are no vehicles to be hailed on the streets hitherto. We dont have apps or anything for download, Pappas said in a phone interview. Just the species to be filled out for the future.
Pappas called the CPUC and spoke with “the mens” who issued the character. He was told that he was required to take the website down, and then, according to Pappas, government officials hung up on him.
I have never run into anything like this before, Pappas enunciated. Ive heard of it, but those companies are usually far along. He went on to explain that circumstances are different because landscapes are different. RydenGo is needling others and challenging the rideshare industry as it is today. It are subject to change service industries in a positive direction.
He have also pointed out that RydenGo is focusing on developing its corporate culture before inaugurating activities. The engineering is grown-up, Pappas enunciated. You can get tech like that[ a ride-hailing app] built in months. Its more important to build the company from the top down and what it expressed support for. RydenGo is driver- and people-centric. We want to give them mastery and stop exploitation.
The idea seems to beresonating with parties. A week after the halt and desist character, RydenGo included textbook to its beta crew signup went on to say that due to the immense number of signups, the company would tell parties supplement brand-new cities to the companys short list. Primarily, there were about two dozen cities where RydenGo hoped to start activities in the autumn; that number could be greater if the beta crew is any indication. Various California locales areon the original short list, including Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco.
Pappas isnt quarrelling with the CPUCs regulatory persona. He understands the need to protect the citizens and the need for safety, and he agrees with the agencys persona in compiling that happen. Ride-hailing companies cannot keep going the streets with a beta app. I absolutely understand and interpret the need for that, he enunciated. But said today to take down the website that was the mysterious part.
As of April 28, the prescribe had not been prosecuted nor repealed by the regime of California.
