FDA cracks down on ‘illegal’ cancer treatments

( CNN) The US Food and Drug Administration calls it “cruel deception”: companionships predicting frantic shoppers that their concoctions can cure cancer.

On Tuesday, relevant agencies responsible for patrolling the American menu and treat marketplace issued alerting notes to 14 companionships that it replies are “illegally selling more than 65 concoctions that fraudulently claim to prevent, diagnose, consider or panacea cancer.”

“There’s a couple of issues now, ” Jason Humbert, a regulatory procedures officer in the FDA’s Office of Regulatory Affairs, told CNN. “The FDA’s role is to review and evaluate concoctions for safety and effectiveness, peculiarly concoctions that are intended for the medicine of an illness like cancer. Cancer compels the supervision of a licensed health care provider.”
