A camera has captivated the moment it was completely swallowed by molten lava and has miraculously come out still working.
Tour guide Erik Storm forgot to retrieve his GoPro after situating it down a crevice in a volcano as he was registering a group around the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. He was sure that it would be nothing more than a melted case of plastic.
He undermined through the lava after it had stopped flowing and cooled down into rock model and to his stun found that the manoeuvre was still operating and had captured every moment it was consumed by the molten rock.
“I consumed a geology rock-and-roll hammer to pull it out of the lava and thought it was a total loss, ” Mr Storm told photography blog Peta Pixel.
The mesmerizing footage shows the lava slowly drawing its channel towards the camera before amply engulfing the device in flames.
GoPros are oftens advertised as indestructible but being submersed in flowing lava at a temperature of more than 1000 stages Celsius and coming out relatively unscathed is next height durability.
Mr Storm had reaffirmed that the camera was still use after the event, albeit not as well as before but the fact that it even still resembled a GoPro was impressive, let alone having preserved and saved all the footage.
